Deploying Moveful

Moveful has no accounts or server, so there's nothing to provision: install the app, and optionally fix some settings for everyone. This guide covers both.

The MSI, the Mac installer package and the Group Policy template come with a Moveful for Work trial or licence: email us and we'll send them with your key within one working day. The standard installers are in the download section.

Windows

Installer: Moveful-Setup-<version>.exe from the download section. It installs per user (no admin rights), into %LOCALAPPDATA%\Programs\Moveful. Moveful starts at sign-in once it has run the first time. For a silent install use /S --force-run, which also starts it.
MSI for managed deployment (Intune, Group Policy, Configuration Manager): Moveful-0.4.2.msi, sent with your trial or licence, installs per machine into Program Files with a Start-menu shortcut, and starts Moveful at every sign-in (people can still turn that off in its menu, or you can with the openAtLogin setting below). Install silently with msiexec /i Moveful-0.4.2.msi /qn /norestart; upgrades replace the previous version.
Portable: Moveful-Portable-<version>.exe runs without installing and keeps its data in a "Moveful data" folder beside it.
Windows 10 and 11, 64-bit. The installers and the MSI are signed by Sohus Ltd (publisher "Sohus Ltd"), so they can be allowed by publisher in AppLocker, App Control or Intune. SmartScreen can still warn on the first run of a new version until it has built up a reputation.

Mac

A menu-bar app for macOS 14 or later, Apple silicon and Intel. Copy Moveful.app to /Applications, or deploy the installer package Moveful-0.4.4.pkg with your MDM (it installs into /Applications; sent with your trial or licence). The package also adds a sign-in item for everyone on the Mac (/Library/LaunchAgents/com.immersi.posture.login.plist), so Moveful starts at every sign-in from the next one, as the MSI does on Windows; people can still turn that off in its menu, or you can with the openAtLogin setting below. macOS may tell people that a background item was added (System Settings › General › Login Items); to approve it ahead, use your MDM's managed login items payload for team identifier WZ2334VPK8. To remove Moveful, delete /Applications/Moveful.app and that file.
The app and package are signed with Sohus Ltd's Developer ID and notarised by Apple, so Jamf, Intune and Munki can deploy them.

Microsoft Teams

The Teams app package adds a personal Breaks tab that opens Moveful inside Teams, for a break whenever someone wants one.
To offer it to everyone: in the Teams admin centre, go to Teams apps › Manage apps › Upload new app, then allow it in your app permission policy (or pin it with a setup policy). Where custom apps are allowed, people can also add it themselves from Apps › Manage your apps › Upload an app.
The tab has no reminders of its own; for a break every 30 minutes, install the Mac or Windows app as above.

Web app (Chromebooks, Linux, virtual desktops)

The address is https://moveful.co.uk/app/. Chrome and Edge can install it as an app with its own window (the install icon in the address bar); it works offline once opened.
To install it for everyone, use the browser's WebAppInstallForceList policy (Chrome and Edge), for example {"url": "https://moveful.co.uk/app/", "default_launch_container": "window"}.
Reminders run while Moveful is open, in a window or a tab. The first-run setup asks (with “Remind me when a break is due” ticked); after that the switch is on the home screen. When Moveful is in the background, a due break shows as a notification if the site may send them: allow https://moveful.co.uk with the NotificationsAllowedForUrls policy. Without it, the break waits in Moveful's tab and window title until the person comes back.
Chrome and Edge can tell when someone steps away (a locked screen or no input), so time away doesn't count, if the person allows it when turning reminders on; otherwise, and in other browsers, it's a plain timer.
The settings below can't be set centrally for the web app or the Teams tab: people choose their own there.
The web app keeps settings and history in the browser's site storage for moveful.co.uk. On non-persistent virtual desktops, or where the browser clears site data when it closes, that resets every session (setup and history start again): keep the browser profile between sessions, exempt moveful.co.uk from clearing site data, or use the Windows app (its settings are in the user's AppData, so that needs to persist too).

Settings for everyone

In the Mac and Windows apps, these settings can be fixed by the organisation. Moveful applies them over each person's own choice and shows them locked in its Settings, marked "Set by your organisation". Anything not set stays up to the person.

Windows: Group Policy or Intune

Registry values under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Immersi\Posture (or the same path under HKEY_CURRENT_USER; the machine-wide value wins). Numbers and 0/1 values are REG_DWORD; text values are REG_SZ. For example:

That fixes breaks at every 45 minutes, in German, with seated moves only. Moveful reads the policy when it starts. To set these in the Group Policy editor instead, use the ADMX template, sent with your trial or licence (copy Moveful.admx and en-US\Moveful.adml into PolicyDefinitions or your Central Store).

Mac: a configuration profile

Use your MDM's custom settings payload (for example Jamf Pro's Application & Custom Settings, or Intune's Preference file) for the domain com.immersi.posture, with the same keys:

Only managed (profile-delivered) values are treated as the organisation's; a person's own preferences never lock anything.

Network access

https://moveful.co.uk/mac/version.json and /mac/player.html: the break-screen update check, when the app starts and about once a day. Updates are checked against a SHA-256 hash before use.
https://moveful.co.uk/models/: the optional guide figures Sam, Nina, Marcus, Mei, Alex and Kai, downloaded once when chosen. If you block it and fix the guide with figure, choose m or f: a guide that can't be downloaded keeps each break waiting for it (up to 45 seconds) before Theo stands in.
https://moveful.co.uk/voice/: the recorded spoken cues, when someone turns spoken cues on. Each break downloads the lines it says.
Nothing else. The apps send no analytics or usage data. If these addresses are blocked, Moveful keeps working with the version it has, the built-in guides Theo and Mia, and the device's own voice for spoken cues.
